Year in Review

 A YEAR IN REVIEW-2017!

 JANUARY -

OUR NEW YEAR STARTED OUT - JANUARY 1ST - WITH A 2:00 P.M. SERVICE THAT HAD A TOTAL ATTENDANCE OF 67.  PASTOR SEAN BROUGHT A VERY TIMELY MESSAGE SPEAKING OF EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY MAKE RESOLUTIONS TO BE A BETTER AND NEW YOU. . . OUR SAVIOR HAS NOT CHANGED.  HE INITIATED THE NEW THEME FOR OUR CHURCH FOR THE NEW YEAR OF 2017 - NEW YOU - SAME SAVIOR.  THE SECOND SUNDAY OF THIS MONTH OUR CHURCH WAS HIT WITH A WINTER BLAST OF SNOW AND ICE AROUND THE CHURCH MAKING IT A HAZARD TO ATTEND.  THE PARKING LOT AND SURROUNDING SIDEWALKS, STEPS AND RAMP WAS SNOW COVERED WITH ICE BENEATH.  A DECISION OF THE DEACONS AND PASTOR THAT ALL SERVICES BE CANCELLED.  HOWEVER ON THE THIRD SUNDAY OF JANUARY WE WERE ABLE TO HAVE ALL OF OUR SERVICES.  WE WERE SADDENED BY THE LOST OF THE HUSBAND OF ONE OF OUR MEMBERS.  SANDY ARVIN'S HUSBAND WENT ON TO BE WITH THE LORD, FOR THIS OUR HEARTFELT SYMPATHY GOES TO THE FAMILY, WITH OUR PRAYERS FOR THE DAYS AHEAD. ON JANUARY 21ST - WE HAD A WEDDING IN OUR CHURCH.  COURTNEY MILLS WAS MARRIED TO BEN HALBURN.  A VERY NICE WEDDING AND WE ARE GLAD THEY CHOSE LIGGETT BAPTIST CHURCH TO BE THE PLACE TO BE MARRIED. THE REMAINING WEEKS OF JANUARY ENDED UP WITH MUCH SICKNESS, HOSPITALIZATIONS, SURGERIES, PROCEDURES, PINK EYE EPIDEMIC, STOMACH VIRUS' AND FLU.  THIS AFFECTED OUR ATTENDANCES VERY DRASTICALLY.  HOWEVER, IT SURE BROUGHT ABOUT A CONSTANT PRAYER VIGIL FOR ALL CONCERNED AND IT WAS ALMOST CONTINUOUS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE MONTH OF JANUARY.

 FEBRUARY

THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY IS BORROWING SOME OF THE SICKNESS FROM THE PREVIOUS MONTH.  OUR FIRST SUNDAY IN THIS MONTH ONLY HAD 70 IN THE MORNING ATTENDANCE DUE TO STILL MUCH SICKNESS.  HOWEVER, 70 IS A GREAT NUMBER AND WE LOVE IT WHEN THERE'S 70 THERE TO WORSHIP THE LORD.  COMING TOGETHER, CONTINUING TO PRAY FOR THE SICK, AND EXPECTING GOD TO MOVE AND WORK IN OUR CONGREGATION.  THE NEXT BIG THING ... WAS THE ANNUAL VALENTINE'S COUPLES DINNER.  THIS YEAR THE THEME WAS... "THE RED CARPET..COME AS A STAR OR COME AS YOU ARE."   THERE WERE SOME THAT ACTUALLY DRESSED UP AS STARS. BETH AND DOG..ROCKY BALBOA AND WIFE ... DONALD TRUMP AND WIFE.. SEVERAL OTHERS DRESSED UP AS WELL, AND THEN THERE WERE THE ONES THAT CAME AS THEY WERE.    THE REST OF THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY WAS HAVING TO DEAL WITH A BUNCH OF SICKNESS.  IT SEEMED IT WENT THROUGH EVERY FAMILY.  WHETHER IT WAS A STOMACH VIRUS, SURGERY, HOSPITALIZATION, OR THE OUTBREAK OF TYPE A & B  FLU.  CHURCH ATTENDANCE WAS HIT HARD... AND SO IT CONTINUED THE REST OF THE MONTH.

 MARCH

WE STARTED OUT THE MONTH OF MARCH - RE-COOPERATING FROM A MONTH OF SICKNESS.  OUR FIRST SUNDAY LIKE ALWAYS WE HAVE OUR "KITE SUNDAY" FOR ALL THE KIDS THAT WOULD LIKE A KITE FOR THIS WINDY MONTH. EACH CHILD THERE RECEIVED A KITE -- SOME WITH HEREOS AND SOME WITH PRINCESSES.   THE SECOND SUNDAY IN MARCH - GOING ALONG WITH THE SEC TOURNAMENT AND OUR KENTUCKY WILDCATS WINNING.. WE HAD "BIG BLUE WILDCAT SUNDAY"  WHICH ALSO WENT ALONG WITH PASTOR SEAN'S MESSAGE ENTITLED.  "COMPETITION."   A FUN- FILLED SUNDAY.
