ELIZA BROADUS STATE MISSIONS OFFERING
WEEK OF PRAYER FOR STATE MISSIONARIES - SEPTEMBER
SUNDAY - -
In the gospels we read of all that Jesus "began to do and teach." We are reminded in Acts that the power to serve comes from the Holy Spirit. Pray for Kentucky missionaries and for their reliance upon God for the power to serve. Pray for ministries that intentionally take the gospel into Kentucky communities.
MONDAY -
Pray for Affinity Evangelism efforts to bring "the kingdom of God" to people with no spiritual connections and for believers who share Jesus through personal interest outreach efforts. Pray for the KBC Evangelism and Church Planting Team and RISK evangelism ministries. Pray for RISK Bowling Green as Kentucky Baptists share the gospel in the weeks leading up to the Kentucky Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in November.
TUESDAY - Give thanks for the vision of Eileen Mullins to "wait for the Father’s promise" to redeem a tragedy and create a ministry to the families of inmates at the Big Sandy Federal Prison. Pray for Harold and Joyce Scroggs and Robin and Becky Botkin as they lead Haven of Rest Family Ministry in Inez following Eileen’s retirement. Pray for other ministries across Kentucky that share Jesus with inmates and their families.
WEDNESDAY -
Give thanks for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers and church planters who have responded to God's prompting to start new churches. Pray for Crossroads Community Baptist Church in Stearns, as they share the gospel and meet human needs through The Lord’s Café and other ministries. Pray for new churches in your community and for more new churches to be started.
THURSDAY - Pray for those who have no understanding of the gospel message. Pray that their minds and hearts would be opened. Pray for Kentucky Baptists to trust God’s timing as He opens doors for ministry. Pray for Teresa Parrett as she links those who want to serve with ministry needs and locations. Pray that more people will volunteer for both short-term and long-term missions ministries.
FRIDAY -
Pray for churches working together through local, associational, regional, and state missions. Pray for ministries in your community and other parts of Kentucky to share Jesus. Pray specifically for the KBC Missions Mobilization Team as they train leaders and work with ministries across Kentucky and around the world.
SATURDAY -
Pray for I I C E (Innovative Intentional Community Evangelism) led by Van and Marjorie Yandell, whose outreach efforts include block parties, motorcycle rides, prison ministry, and evangelistic services at a rescue mission and other locations. Pray for those who will receive EBO ministry grants this year, including each of our 70 Baptist associations. Pray that they will share the gospel creatively.
SUNDAY -
Pray for the "Love Loud" Backpack outreach. Pray for Appalachian Regional Ministry and Mississippi River Ministry who will distribute backpacks to children and share the gospel with their families. Pray that Kentucky Baptists will take the initiative to meet this need, and that all efforts will be of God to reach Kentucky and the world for Christ.

SOUTHERN BAPTISTS HAVE FOLLOWED GOD'S LEAD TO FOCUS ATTENTION ON BRINGING ALL THE WORLD'S PEOPLES TO HIM AND GOD HAS RESPONDED TO THE FAITHFULNESS OF HIS PEOPLE. THERE IS MUCH TO CELEBRATE, BUT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, WE CAN IDENTIFY THE PEOPLE GROUPS THAT REMAIN UNTOUCHED BY THE GOSPEL. WE ARE ABLE TO GET THERE IN OUR GENERATION. HOWEVER, THAT LAST PART OF THE JOURNEY MAY BE THE HARDEST, WHY? BECAUSE IT WILL TAKE ALL OF US, CHURCHES, MISSIONARIES, NATIONAL PARTNERS AND OUR "GREAT COMMISSION" PARTNERS TO SEE, AS NEVER BEFORE, THAT ALL PEOPLE COME TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST AS THEIR LORD AND SAVIOR. IT'S A BEAUTIFUL VISION TO SEE PEOPLE WHO SPEAK KIRMANJKI AND KABYLE, THAI AND TATAR, USE SIGN LANGUAGE IN CZECH TO PRAISE AND GLORIFY GOD.
REMEMBERING THE HOME MISSIONARIES
ERIC AND CRYSTAL PAGE ARE NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONARIES SERVING AS CHURCH PLANTERS. BECAUSE OF OUR FAITHFUL SUPPORT THROUGH OUR FINANCES AND PRAYERS, ERIC HAS STARTED WHAT IS CALLED A "COW CAMP." THIS IS A MINISTRY THAT INTRODUCES TEENS TO THE BASICS OF GETTING A SHOW CALF READY WHILE INCLUDING A BIBLE STUDY DESIGNED TO TEACH THEM HOW GOD PREPARES US FOR HIS SERVICE. WILL YOU JOIN US AS WE PRAY FOR ERIC AND HIS MINISTRY - "CONNECTING TRAILS COWBOY MINISTRY" AS THEY CONTINUE TO REACH THOSE WHO MIGHT NOT HAVE A HOME CHURCH.
COY AND CATHY WEBB ARE NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONARIES THAT SERVE IN OUR HOME STATE OF KENTUCKY, HELPING THOSE WHEN DISASTERS STRIKE. SOME OF THE FIRST RESPONDERS FROM THE KENTUCKY BAPTIST CONVENTION ARE CATHY AND COY. COY SERVES AS THE KENTUCKY BAPTIST DISASTER RELIEF DIRECTOR AND HE COORDINATES MORE THAN 8,000 TRAINED VOLUNTEERS AS THEY SHARE AND HELP, WITH HOPE AND HEALING THROUGH THE NAME OF JESUS TO THOSE DEALING WITH DISASTER. IN HIS ROLE AT THE KBC, HE ALSO PROVIDES LEADERSHIP FOR THE BAPTIST MEN ON MISSION DEPARTMENT AND MINISTRIES SUCH AS; BAPTIST BUILDERS, MEN'S MINISTRY, AND MEN'S AND BOY'S MISSION EDUCATION. OUR PRAYERS GO OUT TO COY, AND HIS WIFE CATHY, AS THEY CONTINUE TO OFFER RESTORING HOPE OF JESUS CHRIST TO THOSE IN NEED.
MATT AND ELAINE TIPTON ARE NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONARIES IN NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA. THEY WERE SURPRISED BY THE AFFECTION THEY GAINED FOR THEIR WORK AND SUPPORT EVEN IN THE WAKE OF TRAGEDY. AFTER LOSING EVERYTHING IN THE AFTERMATH OF HURRICANE KATRINA, THEY MOVED HOME TO TENNESSEE. GOD STILL BURDENED THEIR HEARTS ABOUT NEW ORLEANS. FIVE YEARS LATER, THE TIPTON'S WERE BACK IN NEW ORLEANS FULFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION IN PLANTING A CHURCH NOW CALLED "HOPE." MATT AND ELAINE BUILD RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH THEIR MINISTRIES IN THE CITY. THEY SHARE THE GOSPEL, AND BUILD MINISTRY PARTNERSHIPS. THIS WEEK, WILL YOU JOIN US IN PRAYING FOR OUR MISSIONARIES, MATT AND ELAINE TIPTON IN NEW ORLEANS, AS THEY CONTINUE TO SHARE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST?
SCOTT AND ASHLEY VENABLE ARE NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONARIES IN THE WICKER PARK URBAN AREA OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SCOTT IS THE PASTOR OF THE MOSAIC CHURCH THERE. SCOTT WAS BAPTIZED IN LAKE MICHIGAN WHEN HE GAVE HIS HEART AND LIFE TO THE LORD. IN THE WICKER PARK AREA, HE AND HIS WIFE ASHLEY HAVE SET UP A PRAYER STATION THAT ENCOURAGES PEOPLE THEY MEET TO HAVE PRAYER AND A DEVOTION. THEY ARE ABLE TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO REACH UN-CHURCHED PEOPLE OF THAT AREA FOR CHRIST. JOIN US IN PRAYING FOR SCOTT AND ASHLEY AS THEY CONTINUE TO REACH OUT TO THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW JESUS AS THEIR PERSONAL SAVIOR.

OUR VERY OWN MISSIONARIES
IN OUR COUNTY WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE MISSIONARIES WORKING OUT OF THE MERIDZO MINISTRIES AT LYNCH, KENTUCKY: THEY ARE GEORGE LEWIS - AND LONNIE AND BELINDA RILEY. ALSO IN THE TRI-CITIES AREA, IS PAULINE WHITE, MSC FOOD DISTRIBUTION AND HAROLD AND JOYCE SCROGGS WITH MSC RETREAT CENTER/ VOLUNTEER COORDINATORS.
IT IS OUR PRAYER, HERE AT LIGGETT BAPTIST CHURCH, NOT ONLY DURING THIS TIME OF PRAYER FOR OUR STATE, FOREIGN, AND HOME MISSIONS, THAT WE WILL CONTINUALLY REMEMBER THESE "AT HOME" MISSIONARIES, RIGHT HERE IN OUR COUNTY.
HOW THEN SHALL THEY CALL ON HIM IN WHOM THEY HAVE NOT BELIEVED? AND HOW SHALL THEY BELIEVE IN HIM WHOM THEY HAVE NOT HEARD? AND HOW SHALL THEY HEAR WITHOUT A PREACHER? AND HOW SHALL THEY PREACH, EXCEPT THEY BE SENT?
